The Appalachian Solar Finance Fund (SFF) prioritizes working with partners who make solar energy both practical and financially smart for nonprofits, small businesses, and local governments across Central Appalachia. With more than 40 solar installations under their belt and over 171 kW of solar energy added in 2024 alone, Homes INC is helping local organizations lower their electricity costs, reduce reliance on volatile energy markets, and reinvest those savings back into their missions.
In Partnership with the Solar Finance Fund, Homes INC Has:
- Installed rooftop, ground-mounted, and ballasted solar arrays
- Completed over 40 projects and growing
- Employed a team of 21 full-time employees, plus 1 part-time staff member and 4 interns
- Installed 476kW kW of solar power to date
Local Roots, Practical Results
Based in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Homes INC brings deep community knowledge and a mission-driven focus to every project. Executive Director Seth Long leads the organization with a clear goal: helping Eastern Kentucky residents and organizations gain control over their energy future.
With support from the SFF, Homes INC has been able to offer practical solar options to nonprofits and public agencies that might not otherwise have the resources to pursue renewable energy. These projects generate tangible benefits, including lower electric bills, increased energy independence, and job creation in rural communities.
